Residents offer accommodation to 'Dave Day' bikers

Bikers struggling for somewhere to stay during a huge celebration in memory of Dave Myers are being put up by local residents.
Thousands are set to travel from London to the late Hairy Bikers' star's home town of Barrow, Cumbria, on 8 June for Dave Day.
But with local accommodation limited and hotel prices increasing due to a surge in demand, many were left struggling to find somewhere to stay for the night.
Tricia Heavyside, from Walney, who has offered to host, said: "Dave was such a good ambassador for Barrow and the area, we thought, let’s do it for Dave.”
“We thought we’ve got a couple of bedrooms we could let out, a motorhome, and a garden they can put tents on," she added.
The TV chef died from cancer in February aged 66.
Resident Tim Walker, who lives near Askham, said he would also lend a hand for a donation to Dave Day, and a bottle of Rioja.
“I saw on Facebook one or two people were struggling for accommodation, so I thought we’ve got two spare bedrooms and a bit of a garden so people can camp or live in," he added.
"We’ll treat them to a breakfast.”
Celebrations will centre around Barrow Town Hall, with a memorial service and family entertainment also taking place.
