Wendell Pierce slams ticket platform after missing 1st half of Knicks game

Actor Wendell Pierce went on a tirade on X, formerly Twitter, to slam the ticket company SeatGeek after he said he missed the first half of Wednesday night’s New York Knicks game.
“The Wire” actor wrote that he was standing outside Madison Square Garden hoping to catch the Knicks take on the Indiana Pacers for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. However, he didn’t receive the ticket from the seller until halfway through the game.

“FRAUD ALERT: DO NOT USE @SeatGeek,” he wrote on the platform. “Standing outside Madison Square Garden after purchasing a ticket to the playoffs. I received the ticket digitally at halftime. I asked for a refund and they are refusing. CRIMINAL FRAUD. I wanted to see the game from the beginning not the 4th.”
Pierce further explained that he received the ticket “almost an hour after the beginning of the game” from the seller off of the website and claimed SeatGeek was “refusing to refund” his money.
“Third-party ticket brokers are allowed to commit fraud without repercussions. FRAUD. If tickets aren’t delivered before the event you should receive your money back. 30-40 minutes after the beginning of the game with no refund is CRIMINAL AND FRAUDULENT,” he continued. “DON’T USE THEM.”
Pierce explained he chose this specific ticket seller because of their sponsorship with the New Orleans Pelicans and then slammed the NBA for being in a partnership with the company.
About two hours later, he told his followers that SeatGeek had resolved his issue. He just hopes it won’t happen again to him or anybody else.
“After further consideration, @SeatGeek has decided to fully refund my purchase,” he said. “I appreciate the company rectifying my situation. I hope a policy change happens to prevent this in the future. I’m thinking of those who don’t have my platform to mitigate unfair treatment. Thank you.”
KTLA received the following statement from SeatGeek about the matter:
“All SeatGeek ticket buyers are protected by our Buyer Guarantee,” a spokesperson said. “As both a primary ticketing technology company and marketplace, seller fulfillment issues can occur and while these issues are rare, we work to find comparable tickets or provide a refund.
Unfortunately, we were notified of this issue after tip-off, so our customer service team initiated a 120% refund. We are committed to ensuring that our customers have a positive experience and are taking steps to minimize the likelihood of such occurrences in the future.”
It’s unclear if Pierce ended up inside the arena to watch the rest of the game, which resulted in a 130-121 Knicks win over the Pacers.
