Firefighters tackling 'significant' blaze in Swindon

A "significant" fire has broken out at a commercial premises.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to reports of a roof fire in Old Town, Swindon at 19:16 BST.

A spokesperson said there are 10 fire engines and approximately 50 firefighters working to tackle the blaze, and they were expected to remain at the scene for the next few hours.

DWFRS has advised nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed.

Crews have been are using hose reels, breathing apparatus and main lines to bring the fire under control and roof tiles have been stripped to contain the spread.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue and Wiltshire Police are also at the scene.
