Fourteen drivers reported in Plymouth crackdown
Police have targeted dangerous drivers around the Devonport area of Plymouth.
Fourteen drivers were pulled over for offences including driving while using a mobile phone, driving without insurance and MoT, and driving without a seatbelt, said the Devon and Cornwall force.
All drivers had been reported and penalties would be issued, including speed awareness courses, points on licences and fines, it added.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which carried out safety inspections on larger vehicles, issued 23 temporary prohibitions for vehicle defects, meaning defects had to be corrected before the vehicle could be driven off.
Sgt Simon Coffield, who led the road safety operation said: "The roads in Devonport are largely safe and serious incidents are very rare.
"However, residents have made it clear that speeding and careless driving is an issue on our roads.
"Without those reports from the public, we wouldn’t have been able to plan such a targeted and successful operation."
