Further arrests over reports of armed group

Three more men have been arrested after reports of an armed group on a street in Stoke-on-Trent.

Armed police were deployed to Rochester Road, Longton at 17:45 BST on Saturday.

On Wednesday, three men from the city, aged 18, 19 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in violent disorder, said Staffordshire Police.

Four others are currently on bail in connection with the ongoing investigation, with three of them suspected of firearms offences.

No-one was reported injured following the weekend incident, said police.

Officers initially arrested a 25-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent on suspicion of violent disorder. He has since been released on conditional bail.

On Monday, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so, while a 64-year-old man and another aged 29 were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate.

They have also since been released on bail while inquiries continue.

The three men arrested on Wednesday remain in custody, said the force, and officers are continuing to appeal for information from people who were in the Rochester Road area on Saturday.
