Los Angeles County to offer free gun locks
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is announcing an initiative to make tens of thousands of guns in the county safer.
On Tuesday, the department plans to announce the distribution of 60,000 free gun locks in an event at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey.
The locks will be available for free, no questions asked, officials said in a news release.
“The distribution is part of an initiative to keep adults and especially children safe from gun violence in the home,” DPH added.
Initially, the locks will be available at six medical facilities:
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center
High Desert Regional Health Center
Los Angeles General Medical Center
Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center
Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center
“Later this year, free gun safety locks will also be made available at Los Angeles County libraries,” Public Health said.
