Authorities arrest motorist who intentionally rammed police SUV in South Los Angeles

A driver who authorities say intentionally crashed their vehicle into a Los Angeles Police Department SUV Friday morning, injuring an officer, has been apprehended.

The incident took place around 11:15 a.m., during a traffic stop at the intersection of East 45th and Wall streets in the South Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

According to the LAPD, the “driver intentionally placed the car in reverse and struck one of the officers.” The driver then fled the scene.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the rear end of a white four-door SUV embedded in the grill of an LAPD cruiser.

Big rig travels 10 miles in wrong direction on Southern California freeway

The video showed a second person, possibly a female, sitting on a curb while apparently being detained by police.

A perimeter was established to search for the driver, who was taken into custody hours later without incident.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment and their condition is unclear at this time.
