Driver suffers broken leg in M25 crash in Surrey

A driver has suffered a broken leg in a crash which closed the clockwise carriageway of the M25 in the early hours of Tuesday.

The crash involved a Golf, a Mercedes car and a Mercedes articulated lorry, and happened between junction five for the A21 and junction six at Godstone, at 03:10 BST, National Highways said.

National Highways said all three lanes reopened about 07:30.

The M26 westbound was closed between junction two for the A20 and the junction with the M25 following the incident, but reopened at 08:30.

Traffic data firm Inrix said earlier there had also been three miles of queing traffic on the M20 as traffic diverted from the M26.

M25 traffic had been diverted via the A21, A22 and A25, with earlier delays of about an hour approaching the scene on the clockwise carriageway, going back to junction two for Dartford.

At the time of the incident lanes one to three were closed for roadworks, with the crash happening in the single lane, lane four, which was still open, National Highways said.
