Boy, 5, dies after crash on the A390 near Par
A five-year-old boy has died following a crash in Cornwall, police have said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on the A390 at Penpillick Hill near Par, at about 16:50 BST on Thursday.
A spokesperson for the force said the pedestrian, a boy, died at the scene and the driver was not injured.
They said the boy's family was being supported by specialist officers.
'Tragic incident'
Sgt Phil Brown of the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said the force's thoughts were with the boy's family following the "tragic incident".
He said: "We would like to thank those members of public who stopped to help at the scene.
"Officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision and we would particularly like to speak to any witnesses who we have not yet spoken to."
The road was closed until 00:40 while emergency services carried out investigation work.
