University of Kent opens international college
A new international college has opened at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
UK IC is based at the Cornwallis building in Darwin Road.
Prof Karen Cox, the university's vice-chancellor, said it was a "bold new initiative" and was "set to become a new, life-enhancing pathway to study in Kent".
The IC will operate in partnership with the Oxford International Education Group (OIEG).
The new college was formally launched on April 19 with an event in Canterbury.
Part of the Canterbury campus was opened by the late Queen Elizabeth in 1987.
A new programme at the IC offers two undergraduate pathways or one postgraduate pathway.
Prof Cox said she was "delighted to welcome those students who have already joined us from across the globe".
She added: "This will be a tremendous opportunity for them and those who follow in their footsteps to experience student life and academic study, with access to world class facilities and teaching staff."
Lil Bremermann-Richard, CEO of the OIEG, said she was "excited" to see students "learn, grow and flourish" through the "transformative and rewarding" programmes.
It comes after the university confirmed it was "phasing out" six courses and proposed making 58 job cuts due to financial challenges.
