Burst water main repairs close road

A burst water main has led to the closure of a road in St Helier.

States of Jersey Police said the incident happened on Kensington Place and staff from Jersey Water had been called out.

A Facebook post from police said the incident involved a burst mains pipe on the road.

Police added the road has been shut between Kensington Street and Cheapside, but could still be accessed from The Esplanade.

A post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Jersey Water said water from the burst main had shot 20ft (6.1m) up in the air.

It added some properties in the area would have low water pressure while engineers repaired the burst main.

Jersey Water urged people to avoid the area.

"Our team is working as quickly as possible to repair it and we will keep you updated," Jersey Water said.
