Headington: Child and adult discharged from hospital after house fire

An adult and a child who were injured in a house fire on Friday morning have been released from hospital, police have confirmed.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue crews were sent to the blaze on Franklin Road, Headington, Oxford, shortly before 02:00 BST.

Thames Valley Police said a man in his 60s had died.

The force said it continued to investigate the cause of the fire "on behalf of the Oxfordshire coroner".

Seven fire engines attended the incident at its height.

No nearby properties were affected by the blaze and the police said it was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said their thoughts "remain with the family and friends of the man who tragically died".

"We continue to work alongside Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to investigate the cause of the fire on behalf of the Oxfordshire coroner," the spokesperson said.

"The two other people who were injured, an adult and a child, have been discharged from hospital.
