Man dies in crash on A30
A 38-year-old man has died and five people have been taken to hospital after a crash involved two cars on Cornwall's largest road, police have said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said one of those injured was in a serious condition after the crash on the A30 at Plusha, near Launceston, at about 22:25 BST on Thursday.
A 45-year-old man driving a Honda Civic has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The man who died, and three of those injured were passengers in the car.
Police said the car collided with a Range Rover Evoque.
The westbound carriageway has reopened but the eastbound carriagway remains closed for clean-up work said National Highways who advised drivers on diversion routes.
Police, fire, ambulance and Cornwall Air Ambulance all attended the scene of the crash.
The police said in a statement: "Sadly, a 38-year-old man, who was travelling in the Honda died at the scene.
"His next of kin are aware. Three other people travelling in the vehicle were taken to Derriford Hospital, including one casualty in a serious condition."
Two people who were travelling in the Range Rover were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital with minor injuries.
The arrested man remains in custody, police said.
