Dispersal order in place after car meet tipoff

A dispersal order has been put in place over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend after police received information about "a car meet" that could take place.

Essex Police said the order would cover parts of Southend including Marine Parade, Pier Hill, Western Esplanade and Chalkwell Esplanade.

The order will expire at 11:59 BST on Monday and was brought in to "prevent related crime and anti-social behaviour".

The force will have the powers to move anyone believed to be behaving anti-socially from the area.
