Extra police officers will be on duty for the visit of newly-promoted Wrexham to Crewe Alexandra.

Cheshire Constabulary said it had also been granted extra powers to disperse groups and remove face coverings.

There will be no road closures in the town centre ahead of the match.

Supt Claire Jesson, who is leading the police operation, said: “Please remember to not only respect supporters of both teams, but also the residents who live in the vicinity of the stadium, and local businesses."

The fixture at Gresty Road is due to kick off at 12:30 BST on Saturday, and Cheshire Constabulary warned the extra traffic could lead to delays on the roads.

It advised people not attending the match to avoid the area if possible.

Due to the number of Wrexham fans expected to attend, two pubs have been designated away fan pubs; The Imperial on Edleston Road and Duke of Bridgewater on Wistaston Road.

Extra trains will be running to bring fans to the game.
