If you have ever wanted to join Russel and Carl on a trip to Paradise Falls, spend the night at the Ferrari Museum, or stay at Prince’s Purple Rain house, Airbnb has the perfect listing for you.
On Wednesday, the vacation rental company announced the inaugural slate of icon listings at a news conference in Los Angeles.
A replica of Pixar’s “Up” house headlined the event. The house, equipped with colorful balloons as shown in the 2009 animated feature, will be suspended high in the air thanks to help from a crane and overlook the New Mexico desert.
The house will be fully functional since it is connected to a generator and other utilities will be disconnected and reconnected before and after flying, the New York Times reported.
Other iconic listings include a recreation of the mansion from the “X-Men ‘97” cartoon, built to appear two-dimensional, a VIP visit to Kevin Hart’s members-only Coramino Live Lounge for one evening, a stay at Prince’s Purple Rain house in Minneapolis and more.
“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now,” Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.
This isn’t the first time Airbnb has brought iconic houses to life or allowed the public to stay at ultra-private destinations. Last year, they brought Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse to life ahead of the “Barbie” movie release.
The bookings for some of the“Icon” listings are available on the Airbnb website. Other listings will be available within the coming months.
Airbnb also rolled out other new features on its platform this week, including the ability for groups of guests to book trips together more efficiently.

It’s tough to say that a $100 billion business finds itself at a critical juncture, but that's the case with Amazon Web Services, the cloud arm of Amazon, and the clear market leader in the cloud infrastructure market. On Tuesday, the company announced that CEO Adam Selipsky was stepping down to spend more time with his family and recharge a bit, according to his statement. During Selipsky’s tenure, growth for the cloud division has slowed pretty dramatically falling from 33% in Q2 2022 to 12% in Q2 and Q3 2023 before ticking up to 13% and 17% in its two most recent reports -- although to be fair, growth has slowed across the industry, as the space has settled into a more mature state.

Heating and air conditioning is usually pretty boring stuff, performed by appliance-like boxes with uninspired designs, from sheet metal outdoor units to cheap plastic indoor mini-splits. The heat pump startup unveiled its first products on Wednesday, and they sport the sort of sleek and intuitive designs you’d expect from veterans of Apple, Nest, Google and Tesla. While design is a big part of the appeal, the startup wants to make the entire heat pump experience better.
