Suspect given police bail after officer injured in 'incident'
A man arrested after an officer was taken to hospital following an "incident" in Ilkeston has been granted police bail.
However, the suspect has been admitted to a healthcare facility for "his safety".
Meanwhile, the officer who was taken to hospital is not thought to be seriously injured.
He has since been discharged following treatment for a cut to his leg, Derbyshire Police said.
It follows police being called to a property in Hartington Place in the town "to carry out a warrant under Section 135 of the Mental Health Act" on Saturday evening.
Specialist support officers, negotiators, and the National Police Air Service were deployed "due to the risks posed by the man", the force said.
No other members of the public were involved.
The force previously confirmed no member of the public or police officer "was taken as a hostage at any time during this incident".
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police told the BBC: "The man arrested in connection with the incident in Ilkeston over the weekend has been bailed, but has been detained for his safety to allow him to receive support from specialist healthcare professionals.
"Our inquiries are ongoing.
"The officer injured suffered a cut to his leg, which he was treated for at hospital. It is not believed to be serious."
