Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal collision.

A Honda Civic and another car crashed in Ward End, Birmingham, at about 18:00 BST on Monday.

"Despite the best efforts of emergency services an occupant from the Honda, a man in his 20s was sadly confirmed dead at the scene, said West Midlands Police.

Two men, both aged 22, were arrested following the crash at the junction of Wardend Road and Drews Lane.

One of the men arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving is in custody. Police said the other suspect was receiving hospital treatment and "will be spoken to in due course".

Officers have appealed to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who had not spoken to police, as well as anyone who has dashcam footage.

A police spokesperson said officers' thoughts were with the family and friends of the man who died, adding "we'll be doing all we can to support them during this terrible time".

West Midlands Ambulance Service said its response had included four ambulances, a trauma doctor and two critical care paramedics.

It said two men were taken to hospital after being treated for injuries which were not believed to be serious.

Five people in the second car, including three children, were assessed but did not require treatment. They were given given self-care advice and discharged at the scene, added a service spokesperson.
