US air force bases get safety work funding
Plans have been approved for almost £4m of road safety improvements around two US Air Force bases.
New road markings, signs and traffic markings will be placed around RAF Barford St John, Oxfordshire.
The work was commissioned after motorcyclist Harry Dunn was killed by a US citizen driving on the wrong side of the road near RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire, in August 2019.
Anne Sacoolas was given a suspended sentence in 2022.
The two air bases are about nine miles (14.4km) apart.
The work will include improving signage between them and road improvements.
Around £315,000 will be spent on the roads between the Deddington crossroads and Barford St John.
Another £70,000 will also be spent on improving Hennef Way in Banbury between Wildmere roundabout and Southam Road and improving signs.
It will be put in place between now and next April.
Oxfordshire County Council has accepted the funding in the form of grants from the Department for Transport.
